Inspirational tear sheets
I'm not one for de-facing magazines by pulling out adverts and such, but some projects just call for it. So, I took some recent advice and ripped out some layouts and images that were sort of 'speaking' to me, in order to find a common thread amongst them.
The sheets combined evoke feelings of Autumn, at least the colour theme does. However, I sense the party season approaching as there's dressing up, glamour, sophistication but also a tinge of nurture and well-being thrown in there too.

And just as you are in the flow, an image that really represents it all, is presented to you.

I hope you are having a great week everyone. I'm hoping to be back here Friday, but that depends on how much time I have to spare outside of the residential project I'm currently working on.

I like your tear sheets and the outcome. Lots of visual beauty, and I definitely see the connections.
Sending you lots of energy and inspiration for your residential project. Hope you get everything done with a little breathing room to spare. Good luck, Sam!
Autumn colours indeed. I also struggle with ripping out pages of magazines so I often keep a stack of weekend mags tucked away for this purpose....
Your residential project sounds intriguing. No doubt you'll share some of your results here.
Good Luck x
Isn't it so neat how the mind works? You can pull tons of seemingly random images that you like and in the end they are all so cohesive and similar. I love your little inspiration exercise. And I total see the similarities between what you chose and that room, it really does wrap everything up neatly in one space! I love those striped columns, they are fab.
I've been thinking about you, girl. Beavering away over there! Good work you all are doing. Isn't it fascinating to find the thread in all of that stuff. I've totally been thinking about party season coming up; how crazytown is that? Your tearsheets have perfectly pulled it all together.
As you know I hate ripping up magazines too, but now I'm doing it I can see how inspiring it can be. The images you have chosen are beautiful and definately evoke feelings of Autum and up coming party season. Love the striped columns in the last image.
Hope all is going well with the residential project, can't wait to see the results of all your hard work :) x
Oh my goodness how big are those lanterns? Awesome.
Hate hate hate concept boards. I never seem to have the right images. Won't whinge though! I love the cool of all that pale beige and icy white xx
@Theresa - thanks so much. I've given myself till Christmas to complete the course which is good to have a goal, as long as I don't take any shortcuts to get there :-)
@Tina - I do too keep the Sunday supplements for inspiration. I find travel mags good for this too. Thank you, I will share when I'm ready to.
@Erin - those columns are amazing, like huge candy sticks. Thank you love.
@Lauren - awww you've been thinking about me :-) Threads are really cool, I think that's why I find concept boards so fascinating, although I'm glad you are all with me on this little lot and I'm not going mad with my own thoughts, ha!
@Kelly - I feel the pain with you! Thank you for your support, I'll post when I'm ready
@Annie - the pendants are truly awesome, stunning. I rather like concept boards, perhaps that's because I haven't been marked down for them (so far), ha!
The mind does do funny things, especially when being creative. Do you ever get really stuck, go to bed, get up and look at it again and it's all obvious?! (And usually needs re-doing!) The difficulty with choosing imagery for concepts, I find, is that you are battling between just going with what speaks to you and analysing what the image is and does... I looked back at a concept board last night and thought 'shit, the scheme doesn't quite follow that now!" Oh and the Corinthia... any time you fancy a cocktail!!
Loving all those images you've pulled out, they're all so glam, especially the sequins bottom left. And that shot of the Corinthia Hotel has left me practically drooling - those columns and oversize lanterns!!!
Hope the residential project is going well!
