The Screw Work Let's Play 30 Day Challenge

Recently I signed up to John Williams’ and Selina Barker’s 30 Day Challenge, and today was Day 1. My chosen project is interiors related, naturally this is something I have a great desire for and the challenge is all about doing something that you really love and enjoy doing and that you can have fun with.

I'm hoping that by the end of 30 days I will have nailed, or at least be pretty clear on the next path I want to tread with my passion for interior design.  There are particular elements that I love and that I would like to develop and I believe that John and Selina and everyone else on this challenge will be able to help me identify how to make them a bigger part of my life.

So today, it's been pretty overwhelming but as a starting point I've gone back to basics and spent 20 minutes just brain dumping on paper my thoughts surrounding the topic 'What Makes A Home Exceptional?'.

Here's my output:

It felt very daunting at first, but the exercise was very cathartic.  I wonder how I'll feel on day 30.

If you want to take the challenge, wherever you are in the world then there may still be time to sign up. Here's the link again if you are interested, do it!

Tina had mentioned this online 30-day challenge to me and it looked really interesting. I had the site up and was ready to hit 'go', but then got pulled away from the computer. When I returned, the special price had expired and I (of course) let that deter me. I told Tina to let me know how the workshop goes and, based on that, I would try to catch the next one. Can I ask the same of you? Will you keep us posted on your progress and how you're liking it in this space? I would be forever grateful. :) Good luck...I hope you discover much and enjoy the journey.

Hi Theresa, that's a shame that we won't get to see you in the challenge, that would have been a lot of fun. Of course I will be delighted let you know how it goes, and I shall post some stuff here too. The site is already buzzing with peoples projects, their fears and a community spirit is building. Some really interesting topics too. Tina has been a bit quiet so far, I shall have to ping her a note to get her interacting :-)

Your 3 day a week posting seems to be working okay for you and I trust that you are settling down nicely into it despite your initial fears x

Aha, you've come out of the closet:)

Well done for blogging about it and for doing your mind map and your colour board... I think the forum is excellent and I like the way we can upload pics, videos and connect with everyone. Very impressive!

Pitty T didn't do it but there'll always be another time! If you're interested, my project is a 'creative living manifesto'. I'm a last minuter so committing to 20mns a day is really good for me...

Sam, see you on the inside.. was lovely to meet you on Saturday x

Thanks Kelly.

@Tina. Thank you love. There's lots of hustle and bustle in the 30DC forum. I'm probably being a bit dumb but there's so many comments etc. already it's quite hard to navigate around and see what everyone has been commenting on. But I agree, the photo and video uploads are cool. I need to pluck up some courage and do my own video. I'm looking forward to seeing your project unfold, sounds very interesting x

Wow, good for you, this sounds like a great project!

I'm looking forward to hearing more about it as you discover which elements of design you want to focus on.
