Voluspa scented candles from Amara

A home is not complete without some wonderful fragrance cuddling my nostrils every time I walk into a room.  Achievable with a pot of pretty cut flowers such as freesias or sweet peas, but that takes quite a lot of effort, especially when the flowers are out of season and sadly the result is pretty short lived too.

Enter Amara, the successful online luxury interiors and gift store... I came across Amara a good few months back, and as I recall, it was because I discovered then fawned over their range of Missoni products (they are the largest online stockist).  However, the most amazing fact for me was realising they were a local company, their business is rather conveniently based on my doorstep, although they are a global company with customers as far afield as Australia.

A couple of weeks ago, after a request for an Osborne & Little wallpaper sample (they have an interior design service too), I popped down to Amara to meet Karen, and while there, she asked if I'd be willing to try out one of their products.  Coming from someone that loves the ambience of candle light and has the local fire service on speed dial, having the opportunity to review a scented candle from their wide range was an absolute no brainer so of course I grabbed it with both hands.

Voluspa's Baltic Amber scented candle comes in this really pretty floral patterned glass jar with a matching tin lid which I think it's a fabulous idea as the fragrance stays concentrated and under wraps until you want to light it.  It's a monster of a candle too at 13 cms tall and around 100 hours burn time, so compared to its luxury brand counterparts seems pretty good value.

When I'm choosing scented candles, the packaging is important too as I like to use the container after it's finished and this glass one would make a lovely vase or tealight holder.

The fragrance is made up of a combination of baltic amber resin, sandalwood and vanilla orchid which creates quite a strong, yet beautiful scent.  It's the ideal choice if you prefer a warm, exotic fragrance rather than a sweet, floral one.  The wick stands upright and burns well and overall, the fragrance is more subtle and less overpowering than other brands I've tried.

I'd never heard of Voluspa until now and really I'm impressed with this product, their range variety and well considered packaging of all of their fragranced products (they do diffusers too).  And Erin, they even make a boxed candle named 'Macaron'.

Amara stock most, if not all of Voluspa's range, you can view them on their website. So if you need to buy a gift for a friend or family or if you're like me and want to satisfy your scented candle obsession, do check out the range Amara has to offer.  They are an expert team and a friendly bunch and you'll find their website really easy to view and navigate around.

Special thanks to Karen too.
